BAG Web Design

I was tasked to create a new web product for a fictional travel guidebook company called "Badass Guides," whose goal is to create a new product that is tailored to younger generations looking to travel after graduation

Brainstorm
Brainstorming began by researching competing travel guidebook brands such as Lonely Planet, Footprint, and Let's Go. Their main products and source of revenue are their guidebooks (physical), which is an avenue that is currently going extinct
What are the weaknesses of their products that we can improve and build on for our new product?
-
They lacked proper branding
-
Lack a product that is long-lasting for future generations
-
Lack differentiation
-
Don't appeal to younger generations
-
Text Heavy
Moodboard + Color Pallete
The moodboard focuces on a modern aesthetic that is also inviting and friendly, while the color palette's refreshing green gives a cool and welcoming tone that hints towards growth, nature, new experiences, and the products main differentiating feature, money and budgeting

Company Rebranding
A company labeled "Badass Guides" is
-
untrustworthy
-
immature
-
nonmemorable
-
unprofessional

We need to rebrand to something that younger generations feel that they can use. Our rebranding as "BAGS" hints at our product services, serves more trust, and gives a clean modern aesthetic, while paying homage to company roots as an acronym for "Badass Guides."

Initial Sitemap
-
Having the main emphasis on easy navigation
-
budgeting
-
keeping the guidebook function of the site, while guiding users to book through the website
-
emphasis on exploration and having the user “search for the own idea”, when in reality the website is steering them in the right direction

Sitemap continued to develop as pages
were created

Final Product
The general interface is layed out and interactive similarly as an app would function. I wanted to create an interface that is most comfortable and inviting for younger generations, who are constantly switching from computer and mobile devices.

Profile + Budgeting
One of the main differentiating aspects of the website is the budgeting features. Users will be able to connect their accounts with Mint, a budgeting service. Users will be able to toggle and adjust general travel budgeting on trips, to help them look for the best options that are within their budgets. The editable features are all interactive on the prototype.

Search + Guides
To maintain the core identity of what "Badass Guides" used to be, I maintained their identity of travel guides, offering a wide variety of free guides displayed throughout every step of the booking process to help users with indecisiveness. Our guides will help reassure customers that they have chosen the best location and help them get excited for their new experiences.

I condensed the trip booking process into 3 easy steps. The website will use the consumers' booking data to provide customized search suggestions that perfectly align with their current spending and budget. Their budget allowance is easily trackable through the progress bar
3-step booking process
